About Lloyds Online Doctor

Lloyds Online Doctor launched in July 2013 and was one of the first online doctor services in Ireland. We've treated over two million patients and issued over three million prescriptions in the UK and Ireland. We have a simple goal: to make Irish healthcare more accessible and more affordable.

Our doctors assess patients online, so you don’t need to book an appointment or worry about discussing a sensitive problem with a doctor face-to-face. If you’re suitable for treatment, we’ll send your prescription directly to your local pharmacy, where you can collect it and pay for your treatment.

We provide consultations and prescriptions for a carefully selected set of conditions and regularly review our services to make sure we’re working to the latest clinical guidelines.

How does the service work?

In many ways, our service is just like a normal doctor’s practice. Patients come to our clinic for help on a range of conditions. But what makes Lloyds Online Doctor different is that all of our consultations are online. We treat patients who are 18 and over.

There are three simple steps:

  1. Complete a short medical questionnaire and pay the consultation fee online. Our doctors aim to review requests during business hours on weekdays. If treatment is suitable, we’ll update you through your secure account.
  2. If treatment is approved, we’ll send your prescription to the pharmacy option you choose:
      • Local pharmacy collection: we’ll send the prescription to your chosen local pharmacy. If approval is received before 4 pm, collection may be possible the same day, depending on the pharmacy’s opening hours and stock availability. You will pay the pharmacy for any medicine supplied.
      • Home delivery by Healthwave: if you choose delivery through Healthwave Pharmacy, we’ll send the prescription to Healthwave for dispensing and home delivery. Healthwave will contact you directly about payment and delivery.
  1. If our doctors decide the treatment is not suitable, we’ll refund the consultation fee in full. If they need more information, they’ll send you a message through your secure account.
